Description:
As a traditional type of heat exchange equipment, shell-and-tube heat exchanger has been applied for ages. It has been extensively applied in many industrial departments, especially in such industries as chemical engineering, petroleum and energy source. Shell-and-tube heat exchanger is composed of many tubes which constitute a tube bundle that serves as the heat transfer surface of heat exchanger. It is hereby also known as tubular heat exchanger.
Material: SUS 304, SUS 316L, Carbon Steel, SMO254 and etc.
Features:
1>Simple structure, easy manufacturing.
2>Large processing quantity (1-2, 000m³ /h).
3>Extensive material selection (carbon steel, stainless steel, copper or other
Metals).
4>Stable and reliable operating state.
5. Strong adaptability (applicable to almost all industries).
6>Adaptability to high temperature and pressure (≤ 800° C; ≤ 6.0Mpa).
System Application Chart of Shell-and-tube Heat
Exchanger:
Advantages:
1>. U-Tube design allows for differential thermal expansion between the shell and the
Tube bundle as well as for individual tubes.
2>. Less costly than floating head or packed floating head designs.
3>. Capable of withstanding thermal shock applications.
4>. Bundle can be removed from one end for cleaning or replacement.
5>. Shell can be inspected and steam or mechanically cleaned.
Limitations:
1>. Because of U-bend, tubes can be cleaned only by chemical means.
2>. No single tube pass or true countercurrent flow is possible.
3>. Draining of tube circuit is difficult when mounted with the vertical position with the head side up.
Applications:
1>. Oil, chemical and water heating applications.
2>. Excellent in steam to liquid applications.
3>. Flammable or toxic liquid in the tube circuit.
4>. Good for high liquids in the tube circuit.
