Product Description

Aluminum Plate Fin Evaporator Coil

Product Description

Plate-fin heat exchangers, also known as plate finned heat exchangers, represent a type of highly efficient heat exchanger that is widely used in various industries. This blog will introduce the structure, operating principle, advantages and disadvantages, and applicable conditions of plate-fin heat exchangers.
Industrial Plate and Fin Heat Exchangers

Plate-fin heat exchangers work based on the principle of conduction and forced convection. The hot fluid flows through one set of channels (passages) and transfers heat to the fins, which then increase the heat transfer surface area. The heat is then conducted across the fins to the cold fluid flowing through the other set of channels, promoting heat exchange between the two fluids.

Structure
Industrial Plate and Fin Heat Exchangers
Plate-fin heat exchangers consist of a core, fins, inlet and outlet headers, and a casing. The core is composed of plates, which can be arranged in a plate pair (one flat plate on one side and one corrugated plate on the other side) or several plate pairs combined. The fins, usually aluminum or copper, are installed in each channel to increase the heat transfer surface area. The inlet and outlet headers are used to connect the channels, while the casing encloses the whole unit.

Features
Industrial Plate and Fin Heat Exchangers
Advantages
1. High heat transfer efficiency: Plate-fin heat exchangers have a compact structure and high heat transfer area-to-volume ratio, which ensures efficient heat exchange and saves space.
2. Customizable design: Plate-fin heat exchangers can be designed with different plate arrangements, fin types, and materials to meet specific requirements.
3. Good resistance to thermal stress: The fins in plate-fin heat exchangers can expand and contract freely under thermal stress, making them suitable for high-temperature applications.
4. Low fouling coefficient: Plate-fin heat exchangers are less prone to fouling because of their smooth surfaces.

Applications

Industrial Plate and Fin Heat Exchangers
Plate-fin heat exchangers are widely used in various industries:

Aerospace
Cryogenics
Heating and Cooling Systems
Power Generation
......

They are suitable for applications that require high heat transfer efficiency and compact size. However, the design and selection of plate-fin heat exchangers should consider specific factors, including temperature, pressure, fluid properties, and manufacturing cost.
